The Hoover Company
The Hoover Company started as a small vacuum cleaner manufacturer company in 1907 when James Murray Spangler, the department store janitor made a custom suction-sweeper to use instead of his conventional sweeper which he thought as the major cause of his ailment of asthma. He made a simple design by adding a broom handle, pillow handle, electric fan motor and his own prototype design which served the purpose of an electronic suction sweeper. He started producing the machines as Electric Suction Sweeper after he was granted a patent. He was joined by his daughter and son and his production was merely 2-3 machines per week.
The Hoover Company Brand Name
Spangler gave his machine to his cousin Susan Hoover for use in her home, whose husband was in search of a different business. Her Husband got interested in the product and bought the patent from Spangler in 1908 and hired to keep him as the Superintendent in his company. The Hoover Company continued to manufacture Suction cleaners in huge numbers but soon was dumped by most buyers owing to its high cost. Hoover planed some great techniques like free trial for 5 days by tying up with retailers and this clicked his product to new heights.
